New Scents Arriving

My twin boys are really silly. I get a couple of regular shipments and they somehow know exactly what is inside the packages of the scents that I have been telling you about.

They run to the box and climb all over it until I open it and then they proceed to pick every bar out of the box. Once the bars are all removed to their satisfaction, they start their attempts of opening them.

One at a time each boy with a scent, they keep trying and trying to open them up.

And then the signing and squeaking begin: “Plea” “Plea” – Rubbing their little hands on your chest for please. This is really a very cute sight to see and hear. You can’t help but smile and even laugh out loud at them.

They continue to repeat the process, asking for help if needed, until they have each smelled all of the bars at least twice.

I realize that this is similar to family life.

Children have such a way of helping us see things so clearly and simplify our lives when we will look and listen to them. They teach us to have excitement about simple experiences that we share.

I know that my boys prefer to do things with me. I don’t like to do things alone. The excitement of the package is exciting because they have someone to share it with.

I really don’t think that they would be so entertained or enthusiastic about it if they were put in the room by themselves. In fact they never touch the box, to my knowledge, when I am not there.

The simplest little things like opening a box full of scents can bring us happiness when we do it together.

Doing simple things together is the first point that I realized. The second point is that we need to ask for help. When it is something that we are doing together, we should most definitely ask for help from one another.

The oldest of my twin boys is one who wants to do what he is doing by himself and hates for you to offer the help, but when he asks it is because he knows that he is to the point that he cannot do it by himself.

Smell, Repeat and Enjoy – Practice makes perfect

The third thing that I realized is that when something is fun and makes us happy together, we should do it over and over again.

I love my boys. I never get tired of them wanting to help or enjoying their lives. When they are smelling sweetness in their lives, I smell bouquets in mine.

Enjoy right now

  1. I love what you said about doing a thing that you enjoy over and over again. Especially with small children, but even with your friends.

Not to get stuck in a rut, adventure has it's place...but to really fully enjoy the things that make use happy. The simple things.

    Thanks for the inspiration!
